Named
after the famous Viennese publishing house,
the Artaria Piano Trio has given recitals for
music clubs and festivals throughout the UK, gaining
a reputation for well-researched programming and
engaging presentation.
Alongside the core 18th and 19th century repertoire,
they also champion works by lesser known composers
of the era. Their versatility has enabled them
to give concerts on period instruments, including
many at the Hatchlands Museum in Surrey. In 2004
they presented a series of recitals exploring
the teacher–pupil relationship of Haydn
and Beethoven and in 2007 they present a celebration
of Carl Czerny’s piano trios to coincide
with the 150th anniversary of his death.
In 2005, the trio was invited to work with the
choreographer Will Tuckett and principal dancers
Xenaida Yanowsky and Gary Avis of the Royal Ballet
to create “Archduke Variations” using
the slow movement of Beethoven’s “Archduke”
piano trio. This was premiered at Queens’
College, Cambridge, where they have performed
numerous times.
The Artaria Piano Trio give frequent education
workshops and concerts tailored to particular
age groups.
“the music was
exquisitely performed”
