Inspired
by the changing nature of the
clouds, the Nimbus Ensemble was formed
by three versatile musicians; Natalie White clarinet,
Nick Stringfellow
cello and Eleanor Hodgkinson piano. The ensemble’s
innovative programmes and exciting presentation
has thrilled audiences throughout the UK and abroad.
The Nimbus Ensemble is committed to performing
contemporary music and welcomes new works. In
2005 it premiered “Beat Lines” by
Sarah Rodgers in the Music Past and Present series
at Jackson’s Lane Theatre, a work based
on the poetry of Allen Ginsberg and other Beat
poets.
Active in the community, the Nimbus Ensemble
works for the Music in Hospitals scheme, which
brings music to those who cannot attend live concerts.
In 2006 the ensemble undertook a series of concerts
in Northern Ireland and has been invited to give
other tours in the UK. The Nimbus Ensemble gives
education workshops and concerts that can be tailored
to specific age groups or the core curriculum.
In 2008 they devised a music and art project
with artist Corinne Manches. “The Moon Ants
Law” received funding from the R. C. Sherriff
Trust and initially took place at Riverhouse Barn,
Walton-on-Thames. It will run again in 2010.
